Common industry situations/problems

A stylish hair salon located in Central, with a spacious shop spanning over 2000 square feet, houses six senior hairstylists and several junior hairstylists. It opened in 2017 and has always managed its operations manually. When customers visit the shop, the salon assistants rely on memory to keep track of the order in which customers arrived, occasionally leading to confusion and a poor customer experience due to calling customers out of order.

Furthermore, hairstylists have to take turns handling tasks like receiving customers, cutting hair, and handling payments. During busy times or when there is a shortage of staff, the hairstylists’ work becomes chaotic and challenging. Additionally, hairstylists’ income includes commissions, tips, and basic hourly wages, which require a significant amount of manual effort to calculate, resulting in issues with cost and profit calculation.

Because daily income records are manually entered, there are often instances of missing or inaccurate records, leading to discrepancies between cash and income. Therefore, the salon owner decided to use technology vouchers in 2021 to improve the shop’s operations and address issues related to calculating staff wages and other matters.

Hair Salon/Hair Salon/Barber Shop Technology Voucher Program

1. Queue and Cashier System

After the new system is implemented, the entire queuing process can be automated. When customers arrive, they receive a number, and they can see this number on a screen, avoiding any issues with the order of service.

Since customers can estimate how long they need to wait and how many people are ahead of them, they can manage their time more flexibly.

Additionally, the cash registers now accept various electronic payment methods, providing customers with more options and avoiding the problem of customers not having cash on hand. Moreover, there is a QR code on the thermal paper with the queue number. Hairstylists can directly scan this QR code with the system to record how much work they have completed. This allows for an accurate tracking of each hairstylist’s workload, facilitating the calculation of their commissions and reducing the workload for accounting and administration.

2. Online Customer Relationship Management System

The new system records basic customer information such as gender, birthdate, purchase history, email, or phone number. Through data analysis of customer preferences and spending habits, the company can improve efficiency in its operations and sales strategy development. The company expects a 20-30% increase in net profit with the help of the new system. The system can send sales messages to customers via email or SMS, increasing the repeat order rate among existing customers.
